Security Industry Courses Scotland
The Security Industry Authority (www.the-sia.org.uk) was established in 2003
and are responsible for regulating and licensing all sectors of the security industry
in England and Wales since 20th March 2006. Their responsibility for regulation will
be extended to Scotland from the 1st November 2007.
The SIA’s principal duty is the mandatory licensing of individuals who work within
specific sectors of the private security industry such as:
Door Supervision
Security Guarding
Licensing ensures that all people working as a security operative are 'fit and proper'
persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job. In order to gain an
SIA licence all individuals must attend and pass a recognised SIA approved
training course. Here at RTC we are approved to administer SIA approved training
courses from both Skills for Security and the BIIAB.
