Rutherford Training Consultants is a professional security training consultancy that has delivered solutions throughout the UK and overseas for the last decade. Furthermore, RTC has retained relationships with all key awarding bodies, namely: City and Guilds, Edexcel, NOCN, Skills for Security, Maybo, and NCFE.

Our proven history with companies and colleges throughout the UK enables us to be confident in our approach to your requirements. Our experience and co-ordination skills ensure a proficient and streamlined operation. A dedicated training co-ordinator will be appointed to oversee the day-to-day running of the operation and will draw down from the expertise of the other managers within the RTC team as required. This results in an efficient, professional outcome that will surpass expectations.

1995: Ran our first Close Protection course in London
1996: Trained Static and Patrol Guards for various councils in London
1997: Began rolling out a First Aid Training programme throughout the South of England
1997: Began training for Westminster council
1998: Started training in all 32 London Boroughs
1999: Commenced training in Aberdeen, Scotland for the Grampian Police force
1999: Started training for the majority of councils throughout England and Wales
2000: Accepted training and development opportunities overseas
2000: Ian Rutherford becomes guest speaker and lecturer on numerous courses worldwide
2001: Provided extensive training to door supervisors in New Zealand and Australia
2002: Consulting on door supervisor training with the Security Institute of Ireland
2004: Commenced SIA training in England and Wales
2006: One of the few SIA-registered companies who can train throughout the UK
2007: Delivered security training in the Middle East, and ran the first overseas SIA course in Estonia
2008: Wrote the Level 3 'Security Management / Head Door Supervision' and 'Terror Threat Awareness' courses
2008: Part of a British delegation visiting Trinidad and Tobago to discuss training needs for the islands
2009: Began a working partnership with a South West college, delivering Level 1 Literacy alongside vocational courses
2009: Ran the first HDS courses in England, Scotland and Wales
2010: Began a working partnership with various American colleges and institutes, including InovaTech, CPSI and C4SEM

Health and Safety Policy

Our statement of general policy, as per the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, is as follows:

• - To provide adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our training activities
• - To consult with our employees and delegates on matters affecting their health and safety
• - To provide and maintain safe venues and equipment
• - To ensure safe handling and use of substances
• - To provide information, instruction, and supervision for employees and delegates
• - To ensure all employees are competent to do their tasks, and to give them adequate training
• - To prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill-health
• - To maintain safe and healthy working and training conditions
• - To review and revise this policy as necessary at regular intervals

Key Personnel

Ian Rutherford has worked extensively in the security industry for over 25 years, forming what is now the Rutherford Group in 1992. He has since become a leading figure within the security training industry, establishing a vast network of contacts including award bodies and commercial organisations. Ian has been an active voice in the call for standardised, high quality national training for security operators and operations in the UK.

Nigel Galbraith has worked as Security Consultant and Training Director for the past 6 years. Nigel's career included 23 years in the military, working worldwide for the UKSF. His role is pivotal to the organisation as he oversees all projects that the Rutherford Group undertake throughout the UK. As well as co-writing the Terror Threat Awareness course, Nigel also heads up the training team.

Kenny Dalton's background is as a former Royal Marines warrant officer. His career has included the training of staff for health trusts, rail networks, power stations, military organisations and port security. He has also worked on a consultancy basis, implementing the global maritime International Shipping and Port Facility Security (ISPS), writing course modules and materials accredited by TRANSEC and the Maritime Coastguard Agency.

Brendan Corcoran has been with RTC for 5 years and oversees our security training programes, as well as being an integral part of our specialised qualifications team. Brendan's diverse background includes leisure industries and local government, giving him a broad knowledge base and enthusiasm to bring to the organisation. He also delivered the Door Supervision training programme overseas; in Estonia.

Samantha Tinker has worked as Business Development / Training Manager since 2007. Sam manages meetings with clients and delegates to ensure that the code of conduct and quality policies are being met to the highest standard. Her role also includes the management and co-ordination of all training, overseeing and recruitment of delegates throughout the UK.
