Why should I take this course?
Within the leisure industry the role of the head door supervisor has become a
demanding and complex position, with numerous challenges to deal with. From
organising and managing team members to dealing with the expectations of both venue
operators and customers, the head door supervisor is faced with a difficult task. Failing
to adequately control your security team or to meet these expectations can result in
confrontations, poor customer service or even the loss of the security contract.
Therefore it is vital that anyone working as a Head Door Supervisor has the skills,
knowledge and training required to fulfil their duties.
What does the course cover?
Our BTEC Level 3 training programme builds on the training you have already received,
and compliments and blends this knowledge with managerial and operational skills that
are required to effectively manage an operational door security team. The course
content covers the following areas:
The team leader’s role
Team leadership skills
Risk assessments and reduction measures
Discipline and grievance procedures
Team briefings and debriefings
Radio communications
Actions on planning or emergency planning
Improvised explosive device and bomb awareness
Escorting techniques and procedures
Post incident support
Do I have to take an exam to pass the course?
Yes, the course is assessed via a combination of a final examination and a series of
practical skills assessment sessions.
Will I get a certificate if I pass?
Yes. All successful candidates receive a nationally accredited certificate from Edexcel.
What benefits does this course offer?
The programme is of benefit to both employers and employees, as it provides
candidates with a logical career progression path and a nationally recognised
qualification. For employers it can lead to improved security team management and
performance and a reduction in potential issues and customer complaints.
