News & Events
August 2007
On the 9th August 2007 we were very proud to run the very first IED and Bomb
Awareness course in the UK in Wadebridge, Cornwall. Due to our close ties to the area
we decided it was important that the first of our new training programmes was run in
the area. The course was a great success and well attended, with a representative from
Skills for Security, the accrediting body, in attendance to watch over the proceedings.
SEPTEMBER 2007
Managing Director Ian Rutherford was part of a delegation that travelled to Trinidad and
Tobago, to meet with Government and Industry representatives to discuss the current
security training arrangements. The week long trip was extremely productive in both
the security and hospitality sectors and we are now exploring several opportunities to
work with the contacts we made in Trinidad.
RTC attended the ConflictPro conference on the 27th September 2007 at Canary Wharf,
where we officially launched both of our new training programmes.
Our BTEC Level 3 award in Door Supervision Team Leadership, which is accredited by
Edexcel, has been designed for Head Door Supervisors to underpin and expand the
knowledge they gained in the basic job training and give them the skills needed to
manage a security team.
We also announced the nationwide launch of our Terror Threat and Bomb Awareness
programme, which is accredited by Skills for Security. The course enables candidates to
understand how to identify if their venue is at risk from a potential terror attack, and
how to reduce or minimise these risks through careful planning reviewing their
procedures.
OCTOBER 2007
RTC recently attended the Football Safety Officers Association (FSOA) autumn
conference which was held at Bank’s Stadium, home of Walsall Football Club. We were
invited to attend by the FSOA’s General Secretary to deliver a presentation on the
subject of Terrorism and Terror Awareness, as well as the relevance and potential
impact such acts may have on our nation’s sporting stadia and arena’s.
NOVEMBER 2007
We are pleased to announce that we have already booked the initial pilot courses for
our Head Door Supervisors programme. The courses, at the end of November, have
already been filled by candidates and we are looking forward to a successful rolling out
of the programme.
